LAX Linear Rail is a precision engineered linear slide rail made from stainless steel with a stainless steel slider and bearings. Designed for loads of up to 80Kg, this linear rail product offers good load capacity within a low profile slide rail.
Offering a combination of superb corrosion resistance due to the use of stainless steel (INOX) and excellent durability, the LAX Linear Rail is also available in Zinc coated mild steel as a lower cost option (see LAZ rail 91.7200.003).
The LAX slider system is ideal for applications such as marine and other environments rich in corrosive agents or where frequent washdown may be required (catering and food). The LAX Linear Rail has no plastic parts, and accordingly is also suitable for high temperature applications, for which special bearing greases can be specified.
The compact design, protected raceways, easy assembly, together with a high ratio of performance and specification vs price make this product one of the most advantageous linear rail solutions availlable on the market.
The LAX LInear rail is supplied with a rail length of 2,000mm and comes with two stainless steel carriers.

Ship Borne Applications can range from slide based storage systems, lockers and furniture, through rack mounted electronic components, and onto operational and weapon systems requiring linear movement. If required products manufactured from high grade stainless steel can be supplied offering highest levels of corrosion resistance and low magnetic signatures. © Crown Copyright/MOD, image from www.photos.mod.uk. Specials For the mounting of electronics in non-standard environments, many different factors may need to be taken into account. For example, when mounted in vehicles, the electronic components and the slide systems holding them in place have to be able to withstand vibration, impact, and dynamic forces caused by the movement of the vehicle itself. In some cases, particularly military applications, the system may need to be designed to withstand damp, dusty and corrosive conditions as well. GSF's long experience of specifying slides and systems for a vast array of non-standard applications constitutes possibly the most valuable resource available to you. To help ensure that your product performance criteria are fully satisfied a range of additional options are available for consideration - selection of base materials for the slide beams, cages and ball bearings, specification of corrosion resistant finishes, end-stops, locking mechanisms, double extensions, slide reinforcing and many more. Effectivly, GSF can provide the most standard of solutions through to a totally bespoke slide design.

Internal Doors Linear Rail is generally the preferred component for mounting internal sliding doors. |
General Specification and design of linear movement systems incorporating linear rails and telescopic slides for use in machine guarding applications and the design and installation of manufacturing, cargo handling and other situation specific plant and machinery. In such industrial applications, reliability and robustness are key requirements. When incorporated into automated plant, movement precision is also vital. The load capacities indicated on GSF's high-end range represent the maximum load that can be carried whilst causing a slide deflection at full extension of no more than 1% of the slide's closed length. This is a much higher and more rigorous standard than is typically used by others for measuring slide load capacities, as a results our customers have come to rely on GSF products for their durability and strength. GSF's range also includes slides that operate with ultra-high precision based on innovative roller bearing technology, and which are self aligning. GSF's design team has the ability to offer all or any of these components when working alongside your own engineering team. |
Cruise Vessels As well as offering slides suitable for the full range of operational functions typically to be found on vessels, GSF is able to supply telescopic slide and linear rail components ideally suited to use in passenger cabin furniture and the achievment of muti-use flexibility in passenger areas eg pull-out stages, platforms and auditorium seating; flexible mountings for lighting and sound systems. In such areas, consideration needs to be given to how to ensure that linear motion components (eg a cabin drawer) can not pick up excessive momentum and cause injury to passengers even though the vessel itself may be pitching and rolling. Lock-in and lock-out functions will also need to be more robust in a vessel application. |
Merchant Vessels Applications can range from slide based storage systems, lockers and furniture, through rack mounted electronic compenents, and onto operational systems requiring linear movement. Whether specifying product for a 19" electronic rack or to mount standby generator, the telescopic slide system needs to retain rigidity and be safe to operate despite ship motion and vibration. GSF's range includes heavy duty stainless steel slides (partial or full extension), and can be bespoke engineered with a range of options in respect of surface hardening, strengthening and corrosion resistant finishes to ensure flawless operation in the chosen application. With its extensive expertise and design capability GSF can work closely with your own engineering team to design and produce complete drawer sub-assemblies, taking account of all the special characteristics required for the product to work effectively in the marine environment. |
Oil Rigs Telescopic Slide components for storage and equipment stowage areas; Slide and linear rail components for operational machinery. Whilst offshore installations are generally static structures and so do not require the telescopic slide components to be able to withstand the same dynamic forces, issues of corrosion and the ability to operate reliably in the marine environment remain unchanged. From high precision roller-bearing slides and systems through to standard stainless steel slides for use in staff accomodation areas, GSF is able to provide expert input and select an appropriate product from its range to match the application.

Doors The use of telescopic slides or linear rails to mount train doors requires a product able to deal with both the dynamic loads and crash survival criteria that are inevitably relevant to train-based applications. In addition the components have to operate reliably and with low maintenance requirements over a very high number of repetitions. Doors on underground trains are required typically to open and close up to 20 times an hour day after day over the working life of the carriage. To withstand such a high level of repetitions, the ball bearings and the associated ball track tracks need to be hardened to resist pitting and corrosion. Cold drawn steel slides also perform better over time, as the slide profile is less prone to long term profile deformation than is the case for cold rolled profiles. |
